This newsletter grew drastically over the last month so we want to include a little back story so you know who we are and why we do what we do. Research shows that over half of communication is non-verbal—carried through facial expressions, body language, sentiment, and hand gestures.

When our founder, Bryan Duarte, lost his vision at 18, he experienced firsthand how much is lost when you can’t access those cues in real time. He went on to earn his BS, MS, and PhD in Computer Science, specializing in haptics (vibration-based feedback) as a way to deliver information intuitively and discreetly for people who are blind or low vision.

That research became the foundation for HapWare and for ALEYE, our patent-pending haptic feedback wristband that pairs with Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to translate non-verbal communication into touch.

With ALEYE, you can feel:

• when a friend reaches out for a hug handshake, or a high five

• when your child smiles, nods, or seems upset

• when a coworker crosses their arms, turns away, or looks confused

Each of those individual nonverbal cues are things we can communicate through touch.
