HapWare: Design Meets Accessibility & Meta Ray Ban Integration

Introducing our refined ALEYE wristband built for comfort, style, and real world wear.

Hello!

The HapWare team has been busy gathering feedback from early beta tests, improving form and function, and advancing our integration with Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. Yes, you read that right: the HapWare wristband will integrate with both existing and new Meta Ray-Bans.

Building hardware is not a straight line. It is a long road filled with iterations, mistakes, and hard earned lessons. Recently, we shipped a small set of early generation wristbands paired with older cameras to learn what matters most: the real user experience and, especially, the quality of the haptic feedback. The insights from that first group have been incredibly valuable. We now know exactly where refinement is needed and just how important comfort is for an all day wearable.

That feedback led to our updated wristband design.

The new ALEYE haptic wristband is sleek, color neutral, and designed with fashion in mind, clean enough to blend with everyday outfits and polished enough to feel like a premium wearable. It also allows for different color customizations, so users can match their style, and it features a magnetic clasp that adjusts easily to fit a range of wrist sizes.

In terms of size, the band is 40mm wide, about 1.6 inches, roughly the width of two fingers held together. It fits in the same watch sized category people are already comfortable wearing, similar in footprint to an Apple Watch, while still making room for the haptic technology inside. The result is a refined step forward in both comfort and style, with a minimalist silhouette and a subtly glossy top face featuring the HapWare logo.

On the technical side, the cylindrical top includes a magnetic charger that rests easily in place for fast charging. We are still engineering toward optimal battery life, with the stretch goal of all day use. Our design goal is simple: world class hardware that looks and feels incredible, not something bulky or cumbersome. We are building the coolest wearable on the market!

We recently hosted a focus group with the National Federation of the Blind San Diego and the San Diego Center for the Blind, and one theme came through clearly: people want options. Visuals and colors matter, and users want a wristband that complements their personal style.

This week, we wanted to highlight design, because it is becoming a core pillar of HapWare moving forward. We also want to collaborate with you as much as possible as we continue refining ALEYE.

Next week, we will share more updates on the Meta Ray-Ban integration and the doors it opens for accessibility and the future of assistive technology.
